PHP Anti-Leech 0.1-alpha script details PHP Anti-Leech, or just simply PAL, uses a simple referral analysis system to check if a user accessing a download comes from a local domain or is just accessing the file directly from across the Web.
In the later case when someone hot-linked your file, PHP Anti-Leech will redirect the user to a 404 page, or require the user to enter a CAPTCHA field before downloading the file.
This will force the user to stop using the remote file download link and go through your site, and it will annoy the webmaster leeching your files and make him stop.
In case you're using the library for a network of sites, PHP Anti-Leech also supports domain whitelisting, so certain domains have access to files, even if not local.
